Voss biomethane plant in Norway has reached its final stage of mechanical and electrical installations. Commissioning stage has been started and the plan is to start the biogas process still during this year. The plant is invested by BIR AS, one of Norway’s largest waste management companies.

The facility will process annually 15 000 tons of organic municipal and household waste from the Bergen economic area and 40 000 tons of cattle manure. The end product is biomethane, which replaces fossil fuels in transportation and industry. Digestate suitable to be used as organic biofertilizer is also produced as a by-product.
