What is the best way to boost the profitability of a biogas plant? The answer lies in custom-built solutions designed specially for your unique needs and objectives! Are you thinking about upgrading your biogas plant? We have a range of cost-effective solutions to increase your plant’s efficiency and productivity.

Our priority is to optimize the performance of your plant.

What we bring to your business?

Trouble-free modernization

We can make an otherwise complicated process a simple one.

Ultimate optimization

We know everything there is to know about waste-to-energy technology and how to unleash its potential.

Smooth operation

We remove bottlenecks and take your process to a whole new level of agility.

Customer-oriented partnership

Everything we do is geared at finding the most cost-effective solution for the customer. Every case is different, and there is no one technology that suits all. We are a technology-neutral operator, which means that we always put the customer first.

Solutions

Biogas plants have the ability to turn organic waste and side streams into revenue by cost-effectively converting them into renewable energy and fertilizers. The products can be used to generate electricity or heat or processed further to make biomethane, which can be used as a transportation fuel or as a substitute for fossil gas in natural gas networks.

Raw biogas contains mostly methane and carbon dioxide, with trace elements of other compounds. Biogas upgrading units are designed to convert raw biogas into purified biomethane that can be used as a transportation fuel or in natural gas networks. Our reliable, state-of-the-art PSA and membrane separation technologies eliminate the need for chemicals and water, and deliver an end product with a high methane content.

Suomen Biovoima Oy has come up with a revolutionary biomethane filling concept called BioPark®. Its unique technical scalability and cost-effective visual design make it an excellent solution for large and small transportation gas distributors as well as for private gas filling station builders.

We have the technology to compress or liquefy biomethane, i.e. upgraded biogas, to make it easier to use or transport. Our technology enables compression up to 300 bar, and liquefaction can reduce biomethane down to one six-hundredth of its volume at atmospheric pressure.

For biomethane grid injection, Biovoima has developed its own container-based solution that accurately regulates the pressure of the biomethane according to the gas network requirements and then injects it to the gas grid. The grid connection unit also enables gas odorization and the measurement of the quality and quantity of commercial gas supplied as well as the billing of the network company on that basis.

When biomethane needs to be transported for use outside the biogas plant site, high-pressure gas transportation containers are a cost-effective way to do this. We provide containers ranging from 20 to 45 feet. The containers are made from either steel or fiberglass.

Both existing and new biogas plants can be fitted with a CHP (combined heat and power) unit to produce local energy from biogas. CHP units are available in various sizes. We always pick the one best suited to the customer’s needs.

At Biovoima, we believe that the waste heat from biogas reactors is worth recovering and reusing. Our partner, Westcome, has developed a unique exchange solution based on a patented structure that transfers heat directly from the hot side of the heat exchanger to the cold side without an intermediate heat carrying medium. Westcome® heat exchangers can achieve up to 80% heat recovery under optimum conditions.

We provide feedstock pre-treatment equipment and feeding solutions for most feedstocks used in biogas plants. Our solutions are always based on the characteristics of the feedstock and the required capacity, and therefore selected for each project on a case-by-case basis from the best available technologies in the industry. Biowaste, for example, almost invariably requires
pre-treatment.

The end product of biogas plants, known as the digestate, has significant potential as a fertilizer. In most cases, the digestate is separated into solid and liquid fractions. There are several different separation technologies, and the choice of technology always depends on the circumstances.
