In 2020, Biovoima supplied a gas compressor to Edifesa (Estudios, dirección e investigación de fermentaciones especiales, s.a.) in Spain for the compression of landfill gas. The gas compressor compresses gas from 50 mbar to 10 bar and can handle 15 standard cubic metres per hour (~15 Nm3/h). The gas compressor used was a Fornovo Gas compressor, Biovoima was responsible for the design, installation and commissioning of the unit.
Biomethane, i.e. refined biogas or natural gas, can be compressed for use or transport up to 300 bar, but typically up to 250 bar. Compression reduces the volume of the gas and thus improves its mobility.
