Finland's Biovoima is heavily involved in the energy transformation of the entire Baltic region, as demonstrated by the implementation of the Maardu biogas plant. The plant, built near Tallinn, will contribute to facilitating the future capacity adequacy of the natural gas network. This first plant in the Baltic region to treat separately collected biowaste will be commissioned in spring 2023 and implemented as a joint project by BioWoima Finland. Biowoima Finland is owned by Biovoima Oy of Finland, Prohoc Oy and Wel-Mach Oy. The biogas produced by the Biovoima plant will be processed into biomethane, for example for use in Tallinn's public transport system and for injection into the gas network.
