Biovoima to supply a customised gas compressor unit to Spain

Finland's Biovoima will supply a compressor unit for the compression of low-quality landfill gas. Read more.

Finland's Biovoima is a partner in a Spanish research and development project - designing and manufacturing a customised gas compressor unit.

The compressor unit supplied by Biovoima is intended for the compression of low quality landfill gas.

The custom-built gas compressor unit will be ordered by a major Spanish waste treatment company.

In addition to waste collection, the company is also involved in landfill gas recovery and utilisation. The landfill gas collected is to be compressed to a higher pressure for a customer-developed research facility, according to an ongoing R&D project.

- We have been active in the Spanish market for some time. Projects like this are important steps and will certainly help us to have a broader commercial cooperation in the future. Spain is a very potential market for us, commented the Sales Director of Biovoima Oy Finland Jani Kangasaho.

A gas compressor unit designed and manufactured by Biovoima will contribute to a customer's research and development project. Biovoima sees this project as an important opportunity to contribute to the development of landfill gas applications for its partner.

- Landfill gas consists mainly of methane, a greenhouse gas 25 times more potent than carbon dioxide. For this reason, landfill gas must be captured and, where possible, recovered, says the Chief Technology Officer of Biovoima Finland. Toni Hiltunen.

Product design is underway and the gas compressor unit is scheduled to be delivered to the customer in autumn 2020.
