Biovoima was awarded ISO 14001:2015 certification at the beginning of April. The ISO 14001 standard defines the resources, processes and methods that enable an organisation to demonstrate to customers and partners that it is operating in an environmentally responsible manner. The certification is a strong continuation of the quality improvement of its operations, as Biovoima was awarded ISO 9001 quality management certification in December 2024.

The newly earned 14001 certification is valid for project management, maintenance and engineering services for biomethane and biogas plants and projects, as well as for production at Biovoima's Jyväskylä plant, including sales activities. Eero Tilsala sees that the ISO 14001 certification will contribute to the continuous improvement and development of the company's operations and quality, both internally and towards its customers. ISO 14001 certification opens more doors to international markets with stringent environmental requirements and helps to proactively identify and manage environmental risks.
”The market is demanding quality certifications in management, environment, security and cyber threats and we are ready to meet it. Achieving the previous ISO 9001 standard was a big effort, but we wanted to immediately move on to the next step and the 14001 standard. As our own production and project volume grows, we need to pay more attention to environmental and safety aspects. Environmental issues are at the heart of our whole business, so putting our processes under the umbrella of this certification was a natural, if still laborious, effort. Work on the next ISO 27001 certificate, which covers security and cyber threats, has been underway for some time, and the aim is to audit the whole package this year. This will enable us to meet the demands of the market and the global situation, also in terms of security and cyber threats, in line with the new NIS2 security directive. We are already proud to be the only biogas and biomethane plant supplier in Finland with 9001 and 14001 certifications, and 27001 will complement this.”, says Tilsala.
Biovoima is a full-service partner and technology integrator for complete biomethane and biogas plant projects, plant modernisation, and a technology provider for logistics and distribution solutions related to biomethane production, use and transport. We also provide maintenance services for biogas plants and technologies related to biogas and biomethane production. In addition to Finland, we also operate in other Nordic countries, the Baltic States and Poland.
